More about our hiring process
If the type of work we are doing sounds interesting to you, we encourage you to send us your information whether or not we are advertising an open position. We are often in need of short-term, occasional, or part-time help and will try to reach out to people who have expressed interest prior to posting a public job offering.
If you apply to work with YHF, you will hear back from us, regardless of whether or not we think you might be a suitable fit. If the position has been filled, we will let you know and ask if you would like to be someone we contact in the future about job opportunities. If you do not see a response within a week, please try again, as we likely have not received the email. If you text or call instead of emailing, we will ask you to send your contact info via email.
We do not require specific experience. Regardless of job title, we are looking for competent people who enjoy working outdoors. We are not looking for you to use any particular buzzwords in your intro email. We assume that you can and will learn many important skills on the job.
We see the labor element of this business as teamwork. We are open to adding elements to the team that we hadn’t thought of or didn’t know we needed. If you have a particular interest or skillset that you think could complement our current activities, we would love to hear about it! What we are able to offer as a business is partly informed by the skills that we bring as a team.
If you reach out to us and we think there is even a remote chance of this being a good working relationship, we will generally schedule a (paid) working interview shift. We encourage you to really evaluate whether the work suits you, just as much as we are evaluating whether you are a good fit (maybe more so: you know yourself best!).
We typically hire for part-time work and will gradually increase hours and regularity of shifts as your experience increases (if you are looking for more hours overall).
